Comments on the computer-generated images: “The picture surface is a grid of squares of equal size. The edge length is two, three or five centimeters. The squares are colored or black, white and gray. The distribution of the colors, which I initially arranged regularly, was "mixed up" by a computer program. The computer can do an unmanageable number of different color distributions for me. I chose from a manageable number of color variations. A crucial criterion for me was that the impression of a grid is retained. To select a raster image that holds tension, what figure, what ground, in abeyance. I.e. the eye of the beholder should be given the opportunity to create different relationships between the color squares on the picture surface: as it were, to discover new combinations over and over again, to expand them or to dissolve them and to redefine them. "

“My goal is to induce the viewer to move the eye in a controlled and deliberate manner by means of the initially automatic movement of the eye. The viewer, who turns to the picture in this way, experiences color relationships and the sensations they trigger. In addition to the effects of light - dark - contrast, color affinity, spatiality, vibration, preferences and aversions will arise and determine the selection of combinations. The eye pauses or flees - an exciting game ?!”             (Kunibert Fritz)
